Horizontal Boring/Milling

Thornton provides a variety of advanced manufacturing solutions, including horizontal boring/milling services that provides you guaranteed precision, efficiency and quality when it comes to the finished product.

We offer CNC milling of all-sized parts, from extremely small to up to 45,000 lbs., and are able to work with a wide range of materials, including:

Our milling equipment is expertly installed and maintained, and we employ highly-skilled operators who ensure the finished product meets the highest level of standards. Our goal is to provide cost-effective, streamlined manufacturing solutions for even the most challenging of applications. 

Machining Centers

At Thornton, we boast a large selection of state-of-the-art vertical machines that are able handle any size project efficiently. From extremely small parts measured in microns, to pieces weighing thousands of pounds, our sophisticated CNC machining centers help to create various parts and die/molds with the highest level of accuracy and quality. Our machine centers can easily handle milling, boring, drilling, turning, and grinding.

Turning

We provide CNC turning services for a variety of industries, including automotive, energy, and rail. We use the most advanced vertical and horizontal CNC milling equipment available and are able to handle a range of precision turning work. We provide both CNC horizontal and CNC vertical turning as well as manual turnings for lengths up to 100" and diameters up to 25".

Our CNC turning centers and CNC flatbed lathes have a capacity up to 26” OD x 80” long, while our CNC vertical turning has a capacity up to 55” OD x 28” tall.

Grinding

CNC surface grinding yeilds tight tolerances and a finish that's as smooth as glass on flat, square, and parallel surfaces. Grinding can help produce angles and curves in applications such as die sharpening. Thornton provides surface grinding of components up to 18" X 16" X 32". We are able to give even the highest tolerance parts and to meet all flatness, parallelism, and squareness requirements.

Component Repair

Thornton Industries is able to expertly repair many different types of components for a wide variety of industries and applications, including:

  • Standard and high-speed transfer style forging press bolsters and assemblies
  • Forging hammer rams, sow blocks and bases
  • Forging press brake drums, clutch assemblies and related components
  • Forging press wedges, Pitman and Eccentric components


We also provide 3D reverse engineering and design service for repairs or replacement of existing components. Additionally, we contract with and provide component repair to several of the industry's finest welding companies.
